Arlene J. Morrone

St. Johnsville - Arlene J. Morrone, 82, of the Town of Oppenheim, St. Johnsville NY, passed away peacefully on Friday January 26, 2018 at Mt. Valley Hospice, Gloversville, NY surrounded by her family.

She was born June 29, 1935 in Torrington, Connecticut, the daughter of the late Norman Houghtaling and Irene (Gaura) Houghtaling Fortier.  She was married to the love of her life, Alfred Morrone, Jr., for more than 64 years.

Arlene was a long-time resident of Wolcott, CT and was an active member of All Saints' Episcopal Church until her move to Florida.  For many years until her retirement, Arlene was owner and operator of the Rainbow Gift Shop in Wolcott.  She was a loving mother and grandmother, making memories for her family through the special traditions she created.

Survivors include her loving husband, Alfred of St. Johnsville; a daughter, Karen Langin; four sons, Bruce (wife Jacquelyn), Brian, Brett, and Barry (wife Marianne) Morrone; 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Donald, Steven, Eric, Leah, Brett Jr, Jennifer, Barry Jr, Jillian, and Jason; 14 great grandchildren; her brothers, Eugene Fortier and Donald Fortier; her sister, Lillian Wooster;  several nieces & nephews, and many friends.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her step-father, Eugene Fortier; brother, Kenneth Houghtaling; and sister, Norma Moher. 

In keeping with Arlene's wishes a graveside service will take place in the spring in Connecticut. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY.
