St. Johnsville – Norma Clohecy, 83, formerly of Center St., St. Johnsville, passed way peacefully on Friday June 2, 2017 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.

Born in the Town of Trenton, NY on May 20, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Ethel C. Salmon. She was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1951. Mrs. Clohecy attended SUC at Genesco, where she earned a bachelors degree and later earned a masters degree at SUNY Albany. She served as a school librarian in Rochester, NY, Folsom, California and several valley schools. Norma retired from D.H. Robbins Elementary School in St. Johnsville after 20 years of dedicated service.

She was united in marriage to Will Clohecy in July of 1957. He preceded her in death.

Norma was a member of the Grace Christian Church in St. Johnsville for nearly 60 years, where she faithfully served her Lord. 

Survivors include a step-daughter, Pamela O’Shea and family of Phoenix, Arizona; her beloved aunt, Elizabeth (Edwin) Blake of Vernon, NY; as well as several cousins including Janice (Roger) Lacey, Robert Blake and Ernest Salmon and dear friends including a special friend, Emily Voght.

She was pre-deceased by her daughter, Leslie Beth Clohecy on July 3, 2012.

In keeping with Norma’s wishes, a graveside service will be held on Saturday June 17, 2017 at 11;00 am at St. Johnsville Cemetery with Reverend Martin Glynn, pastor of the Grace Christian Church officiating.
