Herkimer – Mary B. Beauchamp, 90 of Herkimer and a former Ilion resident, passed away peacefully on Thursday February 23, 2017 at Homelife at Folts with her loving family by her side.

She was born August 9, 1926, in Ilion the daughter of the late Samuel and Christine (Bennett) Dayton. Mary was a graduate of Ilion High School, Class of 1944.

Mary was united in marriage to Ernest D. (Babe) Beauchamp on November 11, 1955 in Ilion. The couple shared a blessed union of 40 years until the passing of Babe on August 29, 1995.

For 35 years until her retirement, Mary worked at the Herkimer Village Office where she held the position of Deputy Clerk. After her retirement she volunteered her time for the Folts Home, Ilion Methodist Church and worked on the Board of Elections.

Mary’s life was centered around her loved ones, proving herself a loving and caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She enjoyed the quality time spent with her grandchildren camping in the Adirondacks. Mary found much peace visiting the ocean with her loved ones. In her leisure she enjoyed knitting, arts and crafts, shopping and the beach. “Minnie” brought the fun. Always quick with a smile. She was a blessing to all who knew her.

Survivors include her children, Denise Bascom and husband David of Herkimer, Donna Beauchamp and companion Larry Mackey of Herkimer, David H. Cole and companion Judith Lennox of Ilion, John F. Cole and wife Kathy of Herkimer, and Mitchell A. Beauchamp and wife Gail of Utica; a daughter-in-law, Carol Cole; her loving grandchildren, John Cole, Jeffrey Cole, Rebecca (Cole) Wheelock, Christina (Cole) Beckwith, David Cole, Debbie (Cole) Mower, Jodie (Cole) Bard, Jennifer (McEvoy) Stack, Nicole (Beauchamp) Dutcher, Mitchell Beauchamp, Michael Beauchamp, Michelle Beauchamp, Rachel (Bintliff) Huyck, Andrew Bintliff, Robert Gross, and Jessica (Gross) Kleeman; and 24 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at 11:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (Next to NBT Bank) 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500. Burial will take place in the spring at Calvary Cemetery in Herkimer, NY. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday February 25, 2017 from 10:00 am until the time of the services. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
