St. Johnsville – Marie E. Colorito, 61, of St. Johnsville, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday February 27, 2014 at Albany Medical Center, with her loving family by her side.

She was born September 13, 1952 in Little Falls the daughter of Louella (Mosher) Kazlauskas and the late Louis Ponzi. Marie was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School, class of 1970.

Her marriage to Gene Colorito took place on August 1, 1970 at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Johnsville.

Marie was employed as a Teacher’s Assistant for over 29 years of dedicated service for the St. Johnsville Central School System. Marie took much pride in the school and was very active with all aspects of the school’s activities.

Marie valued her role in life as matriarch of her family. She provided them with help, harmony, and protection. Her loved ones, especially her grandchildren were the most important element of her life. In her leisure she enjoyed the casinos and shopping with her family.

Survivors include her loving husband of 43 years, Gene; her mother and step-father, Louella and Edmund Kazlauskas of St. Johnsville; two loving daughters, Anita Tomasek and husband David of Rotterdam, and Gina Ciaccio and husband Thomas of Gloversville; four cherished grandchildren, David & Chase Tomasek and Gianna & Joseph Ciaccio; three sisters, Louise Gray and husband Larry of St. Johnsville, Mary Lou Heroth and husband Harlan (Sonny) of Fort Plain, and Kay Lynn DeLano and husband Ray of Poland, NY; a brother, John Ponzi and wife Cynthia of Lake Jackson, Texas; in-laws, Cynthia Gould of Rome, NY and Richard Colorito and wife Teddi of St. Johnsville; two aunts, Mary Groshans and husband Richard of Johnstown and Renalda Culver of Johnstown; her longtime special friend, Marge Curtis of Fort Plain, and several nieces, nephews & cousins.

She was pre-deceased by her sister, Mary Ann Ponzi and her mother-in-law, Josephine (Buff) Colorito.

Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday March 6, 2014 at 9:00 am at Our Lady of Hope Church, 115 Reid St., Fort Plain, NY, with Reverend Dennis Murphy, pastor, officiating. The family will be receiving friends and relatives on Wednesday March 5, 2014 from 2-4 and 6-8 pm from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040. All memorial contributions may be made to National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 1848, Longmont, CO 80502. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
