Herkimer - Joyce Burchell Kroll, 77, of Herkimer and a former Mohawk resident, passed away peacefully on Monday April 24, 2017 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY.

She was born July 31, 1939 in Malone, NY the daughter of the late J. Leonard and Marguerite (King) Burchell. Joyce attended St. Francis de Sales grade school and graduated from Mohawk High School, class of 1957.

At one time she was married to Joseph J. Kroll on August 23, 1958 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Mohawk.

Joyce started her working career at the former Corrado Milling Co., in Herkimer, and then worked for Brown's Feed in Frankfort for 29 years, and lastly she was a secretary for the General Herkimer Council, BSA. Due to her ill health, she retired in March of 1992. Joyce also helped her son John start J.A.C. Septic Service, Inc. where she worked as his bookkeeper out of her home for several years.

In her earlier years, Joyce was active in the Boys Scouts and Cub Scouts and served as a Den leader, she was also a member of the Better Breathers Club and attended various Bible Studies throughout the valley.

Survivors include her son John (Jack) Kroll and wife Christine of Mohawk, the light of her life, two grandchildren, Alison (Andrew) George and Andrew Kroll, who brought her so much joy and pride, a great grandson Jaxson Kroll; a sister Kay Bailey of Herkimer; two nieces, Sharon DeBaise, Michelle Nichols; a nephew, Daniel P. Bailey; several great nephews and nieces that were like her own; several cousins, including a special cousin, Bryan J. King and wife Marge of Syracuse; and her former husband of 35 years, Joseph J. Kroll of Herkimer, NY.

Funeral services will be held on Friday April 28, 2017 at 10:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank) 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500, with Reverend Chris Wintermute, pastor of Little Falls Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Friday, April 28, 2017 from 9:00 am until the time of the services. All memorial contributions may be made to the Little Falls Baptist Church,  555 Albany St., Little Falls, NY 13365.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

The family would like to express a sincere thank you to Dr. Norman Freund, Dr. Luke Handy and the staff of Little Falls Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Joyce and her family during her stay.
