Little Falls - Josephine T. (Ciociolo) McCumber, age 77, passed away Monday, November 20, 2017 as a result of Alzheimer's, with her loving daughter, Lorraine, by her side.

A longtime resident of Little Falls, NY, Josephine was born April 16, 1940, to Michael and Congetta Ciociolo of Little Falls. She was a 1958 graduate of Little Falls High School. On March 1, 1959, she married Robert D. ("Bobby Mac") McCumber with whom she had 3 children, Lorraine Marie, Robert Daniel Jr., and Brian David. She and Robert were married for 50 years until his passing in 2009. She was employed by Salada Tea/Redco for over 30 years where she was an active member of the worker's union, before retiring.

Josephine, more lovingly known as Josie to her close friends and family, had the ability to bring a smile to all those she encountered with her wit and sarcasm. She loved her family immensely and always showered them with hugs and kisses and lots of attention. She was kind, giving, engaging and always loved a good joke and a cigarette. She enjoyed the simple things in life such as a brilliant sunset. She made up for her small stature with the big heart she had and showed it by being kind to strangers and giving generously to those less fortunate. She worked hard to keep a clean, comfortable home for her family and enjoyed cooking them a delicious Italian meal. She also loved listening to music greats such as Elvis, Tom Jones, Herb Alpert and Engelbert Humperdinck. She enjoyed reading of all kinds and traveling to states like NM, CO, AZ, and TX to visit her son and grandchildren as well as the nearby visits to family and friends in the Herkimer and Dolgeville areas and to Massachusetts where her eldest sister and niece lived.

A special thank you from Josie's family to the nursing home staff that cared for her during her illness and all those friends and family members who kept Josie in their prayers, visited her, or sent well wishes.

Josie was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Robert; her son, Robert Jr.; a grandson, Christopher; her sisters including Anna Cascia of Boston, MA; Dolly Costanza (Dolgeville); Angie Vedovati, and Josie Ciociolo, (Little Falls); her brothers, Pat Ciociolo, Al Ciociolo, and Art Ciociolo (Little Falls); and Ralph Ciociolo (Ilion).

Surviving family members include her daughter, Lorraine McCumber and fiancé, John Mancuso of Herkimer; son, Brian McCumber and wife, Christina, of San Antonio, TX; grandchildren, Vincent M. Enea and wife, Sarah of Ilion; Nicholas A. McCumber and Grace A. McCumber, both of San Antonio, TX; great-grandchildren, Vivienne, Josephine, Antonia and Lucia Enea, all of Ilion; numerous nieces and nephews who will miss their "Aunt Jo"; many high school friends, and surviving members of her Salada Tea family.
