Whitesboro - Joseph J. (Jay) Carrig, 34, of Whitesboro and a former Little Falls resident, passed away on Friday June 23, 2017 at St. Luke's Medical Center, New Hartford, NY surrounded by his loving family and special friends.

He was born January 20, 1983 in Herkimer the son of William M. Jr. and Karen L. (Kuehnle) Carrig. Jay was a graduate of Little Falls High School, class of 2001 and also graduated from Union College in Schenectady, NY class of 2005 with a degree in Political Science. While attending college he was a member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity, Gamma Zeta Chapter.

Jay was employed at The House of the Good Shepherd in Utica where he held the position of Health Home Care Coordinator. He also worked part time at the ARC Herkimer as a Direct Support Professional.

Joseph was generous, loving, kind-hearted, and he always thought of others’ needs before his own. He was extremely loyal and devoted to all his family members and friends. Jay had a wonderful sense of humor with a contagious smile that would light up any room. Jay had a personality that touched many people’s lives. He especially enjoyed his personal time with his Dad and canine companions, Eisenhower and Abe, on their daily walks. Jay was an avid sports fan, supporting and following all the New York teams. Amongst his favorites were The Mets, Rangers and Giants. In his leisure time he enjoyed playing video games, playing magic cards, and reading comics. Jay will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include his parents, William and Karen Carrig, Jr. of Little Falls; a very special and loving sister, Rachael L. Carrig of Little Falls; the love of his life his fiancée, Selena Drincic, (fondly known to Jay as his Moon & Stars and Princess) of Whitesboro; Selena's parents, Muki & Rasma Drincic (Mama & Tata) and family of Utica; many aunts and uncles including his special aunts and uncles, Gail and William Gouse of Oyster Bay, NY and David and Lynda Kuehnle of Herkimer and Aunt Kristine Kuehnle of New Jersey, Godmother, Mary Jo Carrig of Little Falls, Godfather, Guy Gressler of Little Falls, many special cousins, and his special longtime friends, Larry Kaplan, Mike Kane and Dr. Adam Howe.

He was pre-deceased by his paternal grandparents, W. Morgan and Anne Carrig and his maternal grandmother, Sondra M. Viscome.

Family and friends may call at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500 on Tuesday June 27, 2017 from 4 - 7 pm.

Jay's funeral service will commence on Wednesday June 28, 2017 at 8:30 am from the funeral home and at 9:00 am from the Church of Sts. Anthony and Joseph in Herkimer where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Quy Vo, Pastor.

All contributions in Jay's memory may be made to either the Herkimer Humane Society, PO BOX 73, Mohawk, NY 13407, The House of the Good Shepherd, 1550 Champlin Ave., Utica, NY 13502, or the ARC Herkimer, 350 South Washington St., Herkimer, NY 13350. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
