St. Johnsville - John G. Davis, 72, of St. Johnsville, passed away peacefully on Tuesday September 12, 2017 at the St. Johnsville Nursing Home with his loving family by his side.

He was born November 16, 1944 in Oneonta, NY the son of the late Alvin and Marjorie(Fletcher) Davis. John was educated locally and graduated from New York City Business School.

His marriage to Margaret "Peggy" Lenz took place on December 27, 1973 on Long Island.

Mr. Davis was a United States Army veteran, enlisting in May 1965 and was honorably discharged in April 1967 with the rank of SP4.

John was last employed for Agway Energy in Fort Plain. He was an active member of St. John's Reformed Church in St. Johnsville.

An avid outdoorsman, , John was a member of the Adirondack 46ers Club, climbing all 46 peaks of the Adirondacks with his friend, the late Dick Burkdorf and was an avid golfer. John enjoyed woodworking and carpentry in his leisure. He was also a former Scout Leader and past president of the St. Johnsville Rotary Club.

Survivors include his wife Peggy Davis of St. Johnsville; three step-sons, Scott (Jeanne) Bruce of St. Johnsville, Robert (Julie) Bruce of Otego, and Russ Bruce of Florida; two sisters, Marge Hanson of Florida and Doreen (James) Berry of Texas; four grand children, 2 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, including a special niece, Kim Kamlet of Zephyrhills, Florida.

He was pre-deceased by a brother, Louis Davis.

In keeping with John's wishes funeral services and burial at Sand Hill Cemetery, Unadilla, NY will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are under the caring guidance of the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to the Masonic Lodge), 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040.
