Irene J. (Hoke) Vandenberg

Irene Vandenberg left her earthly body in exchange for her heavenly one on 4/18/2018.

Irene was the 13th child of 15 and is predeceased by her parents, Ruby and Archie Hoke, her siblings Nelson, Art, Ira, Ethel, Eleanor, Bob, Skip, Ken, and Archie and her daughter, Diana.

Irene spent her career as a Real Estate Broker, owning Vandenberg’s Real Estate. She was an integral part of creating and implementing the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) in Herkimer and Oneida Counties, and was part of the Million Dollar Club after selling over a million dollars in Real Estate in Florida.

Irene will be remembered for her love of all things God and family, her ability to love others unconditionally, and her kind, huge, servant heart.

She leaves behind her children Theodore Vandenberg, Dale Vandenberg (Kelly) and Christine Vandenberg- Dileone (Vinny), as well as her special grandchildren, Andrew Vandenberg, Nicole George, and Anthony and Jeffrey Dileone. She is also survived by her siblings, Jack Hoke, Alfred and Mary Hoke, Marguerite Hall, Helen Healey and Sharon Bosch.

Irene had very special nurses and nursing assistants at Folts Home who cared for her like she was their family, during her illness. They deserve recognition and thanks. Nurses: Kim, and, Ruby, and supervisor, Tejan. Nursing assistants, Morgan, Michael, Justin, Tiffany, Lisa, Tisha, Rachel, Alan, as well as and staff Val and Sam. Our hearts will be forever grateful for your love to our mom.

1st floor nurses, Jamie, Samantha, Alisha, and Tim, who made her last few days pain free with their attentive and kind nursing care. 

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts to Mary, Aunt Shar, Sandra, Barbara, Leigh, Dorina, Ruby, Kelly & Kelly, Andrew, and Shannon for the meals, keeping Chris in Dunkin Donuts coffee, and your unwavering support.

Funeral services will be Saturday April 21, 2018 at 11:00 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (next to NBT Bank) 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500. Burial will follow at Mohawk Cemetery. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday April 21, 2018 from 9:00 am until the time of the services.
