Herkimer/Florida – Dorothy L. Scalise, 85, a long time Herkimer resident, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday March 14, 2017 from injuries sustained from an automobile accident in Hallandale, Florida.

She was born May 20, 1931 in Herkimer the daughter of the late Joseph and Ada Grubner. Dorothy was educated in Herkimer schools.

She was married to the late Attorney Carl G. Scalise on September 7, 1957. The couple shared a blessed union of 55 years until the passing of Mr. Scalise on March 6, 2012.

Her loving and kind heart led her to encourage and support everyone around her, especially her family, which was the center of her world. Dorothy enjoyed tending her flower gardens and spending time with her feline companion, whiskers.

Survivors include her sons, Ron Scalise and wife Kimberly of Herkimer and Melbourne, Florida and Carl G. Scalise, Jr., of Hallandale Florida; two grandchildren, Brittany and Casey Scalise; a sister, Judy Zuris and husband Peter; in-laws, Tony and Nita Bonvino and Francis and Marie Scalise; and many nieces and nephews.

She was pre-deceased by a sister-in-law, Mary Scalise.

A memorial  service will be held at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (Next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500 on Sunday May 21, 2017 at 1:00 pm. The family will be receiving relatives and friends on Sunday May 21, 2017 from 11:00 am until the time of the services. Burial will take place at Mt. View Memorial Gardens, Town of Little Falls after the memorial service.
