Fort Plain – Diana M. (Bellen) Swartz, 76, of Fort Plain, passed away peacefully on Friday August 19, 2016 at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY with her loving family by her side.

She was born April 20, 1940 at the family homestead in Canajoharie, the daughter of the late Joseph and Bessie (Borden) Bellen and attended St. Johnsville High School.

Her marriage to Grayson Swartz took place on June 25, 1977 in Fort Plain, NY.

Diana was last employed at the former Big M in Fort Plain, where she worked in the Deli Department. At one time she was employed at the Fort Plain Police Department. Diana was an active member of the Fort Plain Fire Department, Ladies Auxiliary.

A woman devoted to her family, Diana’s foremost priority was spending quality time with her loved ones. She found much tranquility in tending her flower gardens. In her leisure she enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her devoted husband Grayson, her daughter, Melanie Swartz (Judd Milne) of Reston, VA; her sons, Mark (Rebecca) Trombetta of St. Johnsville, Michael Trombetta of Los Angeles, CA, and Matthew (Karla) Swartz of Johnstown, NY; her grandchildren, David Joseph Trombetta, AJ Blowers and Alexa Blowers, Allana Richards and Tara Waterman; a sister, Regina (Dory) Gee of St. Johnsville; in-laws, Cathy Bellen of St. Johnsville, Bronwyn (Marvin) Grabow of Oklahoma, Larry Swartz of Georgia and Adam (Kathy) Swartz of Fort Plain; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was pre-deceased by her siblings, twin brother, Donald Bellen, Joseph Bellen, Patricia Dockerty and Anita Smith.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 23, 2016 at 11:00 am from St. Johnsville United Methodist Church, Main St., St. Johnsville, NY. Burial will follow at St. Johnsville Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 568-7040, on Monday August 22, 2016 from 6 - 8 pm.  All memorial contributions may be made to either, The Fort Plain Fire Department, 168 Canal St., Fort Plain, NY 13339, Ayres Animal Shelter, 133 Hilltop Road, Sprakers, NY 12166, or to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, 3 International Drive, Suite 200, Rye Brook, NY 10573.
