HERKIMER - Arlene C. (Miller) Sisson age 89, passed away February 15, 2017 at the Charles T. Sitrin Health Care Center, New Hartford, NY.

Arlene was born January 13, 1928, raised and educated in Ilion NY, the daughter of the late Fenton and Etta (Kelly) Miller. She attended and graduated from the Ilion Annunciation School in 1946.

In her younger years Arlene worked for Remington Rand in Ilion NY where she met her future husband Robert Sisson. Arlene married Robert in 1949 and together they built a home in East Herkimer where they raised their family and enjoyed 51 wonderful years together. Throughout her life she and Robert enjoyed many wonderful times camping with family and friends at their favorite place, Piseco Lake. Arlene also enjoyed and took great pride in taking care of the home Robert and her built. One of Arlene’s greatest impacts on the lives of the people around her was her willingness to always be there for her family and friends, an honorable quality from a person that will be greatly missed.

Arlene also worked a number of years for Mohawk Data Science (MDS) where she retired from to become the primary caregiver for husband until his passing in 2000.

She was a member of Saint Francis De Sales Church for which she faithfully attended for years until ill health made it too difficult.

Besides her late husband Arlene was pre-deceased by her sister Mary Miller and her brother Fenton Miller Jr. and infant Grandson Shawn Sisson. 

Arlene is survived by a daughter Linda and her husband Frank Netti of Mohawk, a son Thomas and his wife Sherrie of Dennis MA, a son Robert and his wife Angela of Ballston Spa NY, a daughter Barbara and her husband Edward Murphy of Yarmouth MA and grandchildren, Chrystal, Paul, Tara, Kyle, Adam, Meghan, Christopher, Samantha, Rachel, Rory and several great grandchildren.

Her family would like to thank the staff of Sitrin Health Care Center of New Hartford for their compassionate care they provided her. 

Funeral services will be held on Monday February 20, 2017 at 9:30 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, (Next to NBT Bank), 527 East Albany St., Herkimer, NY 315-866-1500 and at 10:00 am from St. Francis de Sales Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by The Very Reverend Mark Cunningham, pastor. Burial in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer will take place in the spring. Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday February 19, 2017 from 2  - 4 pm. All memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities of Herkimer County, 61 West Street, Ilion, NY 13357. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
